Ranks and clan organization
Clan Fell is similiar to a traditional Scottish clan, with Scottish terms used for formal emphasis. They are headed by a chieftain, called the ceann-cinnidh.
The ceann-cinnidh selects a tánaiste who will act as a second-in-command and who will inherit the leadership role when the former ceann-cinnidh dies or chooses to step down.
Other important roles include the lighiche, a cat that is skilled in the arts of healing and medicine, and the breitheamh, a cat
that acts as a sort of judge. The breitheamh helps resolves conflicts within and without the clan, maintains and establishes laws, and is an expert on the history and traditions of the clan. The breitheamh and the lighiche work together regarding spiritual matters and duties.
The majority of the clan are the laoich (singular laoch), warriors who fight, hunt, and patrol.
The foghlamaichean (singular foghlamaiche) are these warriors' apprentices; each foghlamaiche has a single mentor/teacher (a tidsear), but will often learn from many different cats overall.
Finally, there are the foirfigh (singular forfeach), older cats who have retired from their former roles and provide wisdom to the rest of the clan.
Cats are generally named in a conventional fashion: a prefix is given at birth, and a suffix is received once the cat becomes
a full-fledged member of the clan. Leaders are given the suffix -fell in honor of the clan name and the original founder, the wildcat Fell.
The sinnsearan (singular sinnsear) are the deceased ancestors of the clan. They reside primarily in the Otherworld, the realm of the dead and also of deities and other supernatural beings. However, they can reach living cats through dreams and occasionally can pass through to the realm of the living.
